Spooky Empire - Day 3
I almost never go to conventions on Sunday. I usually finish getting what I need done at some point on Saturday, and head home Saturday night. But I just missed the Cassandra Peterson photo op on Saturday. So I decided to get it done today. I started the day with the awesome Eggs Benedict at the B-Line Diner. I had the pleasure of eating breakfast with Jeff East and Michael St. Michaels. It was a great way to start the day. I got in line WAY too early today. I don’t know why,

Spooky Empire - Day 2
After a pretty late night, it would have been nice to sleep in. Alas, no. After less than 2 hours of sleep, I got up and drove to the nearest Wells Fargo ATM. I wanted to go early so I could be sure of still getting a good parking spot when I came back. Armed with the cash I should have had on Friday, I went to get in line. I was the first person in the VIP line. A couple of con buddies joined me shortly thereafter. Having good people to talk to in line makes all the differen

Spooky Empire - Day 1
My Friday began in Dallas, as I was there for work. I woke up at 2am for a way too early flight home to Orlando. I landed, drove home to Titusville, spent a couple of hours getting my stuff together, and headed to the hotel. I checked in, dropped off my luggage, and headed to the con at 3ish. I hung out at the entrance to the autograph area until they put VIPs in at 4. Got to see lots of my con buddies while I waited. When they let us in, I bee-lined it to David Howard Thornt

Scarefest Weekend - Day 2
Day 2 will be my final day, as I begin the long trek home this evening. Dakota was in line at 5:30 again today, and I joined him some time after 6:00. For some reason there was just one big line today, rather than separate lines for picking up tickets and re-entry. Once Brandon and Adam arrived, they separated the lines. Brandon even made a separate "Doug line" right by the doors, which was just about the funniest thing ever. They let us in the building at 7:30ish. I re

Scarefest Weekend - Day 1
For me, Scarefest Weekend begins when I get in my car and begin the long drive to Lexington. It's almost 900 miles each way. Traffic drives me crazy, so I had the great idea to make the drive overnight. I left my house at around 6pm Wednesday night, and got to the Hyatt Regency Lexington at 5am on Thursday. For much of the drive it was basically me and a few semis on the road. Luckily the Hyatt was able to check me in. I spent the rest of the day Thursday preparing for the
